It’s that time of year when we all look back and reflect on all that we’ve got in our lives and all that we’re thankful for. And if you live in the United States, chances are good that you’re with your family doing that on this very day! The Young and the Restless’ Courtney Hope (Sally) got a bit of a jump on both family and reflection as she celebrated her father’s 81st birthday just days before Thanksgiving. And the message she shared as she wished her “pops” a happy birthday was an incredible, love-filled tribute.

“I could speak for a lifetime on this man,” Hope wrote on her Instagram stories, sharing a photo of “pops.” “I can say I was granted the greatest gift in having a father like mine. Someone who has always been my biggest champion and my best friend, and [has] always known the difference between when to treat me like a lady and when to treat me like a human. Someone who’s allowed his five children to evolve into who they were meant to be, not who he thought they should be.”

There’s nothing they can’t talk about, she continued, saying no topics are off-limits. “His interest in my life has made me feel uniquely seen, and we can chat and laugh for hours about anything from science to dating, poetry to politics, comedy to the cosmos, philosophy to human condition and everything in between.”

On top of that, he meets “uncomfortable conversations” with “an open mind and a non-judgmental heart, and he seeks to understand while sharing his wisdom with a disarming humor.”

Hope’s dad is, “A man who can command a room, but who animals and children flock to because of his calming nature, steadiness as a human, and playful spirit. He set the bar high, and I’m so grateful he’s shown me not only what a noble man looks like, but what unconditional love feels like.”

“I love you, dad,” she wrapped up. “Thank you for all you’ve done as my father and my friend.”

Now that is something to be deeply thankful for. We get why the actress wanted to share it all for not just her father, but everyone who took the time to read. If only we could all have dads like that. Happy belated birthday — and Happy Thanksgiving to all those reading this!
